I spoke with Death Note Silence, a metalcore/deathcore band from Quebec, Canada! We discussed plans for 2025, inspirations and much more. Read below to see!
Firstly, introduce yourselves! What do each of you do in the band? How long has the band been around for?
Ben: Vocals – 2014
Pete: Guitarist – 2014
David: Drum – 2014
Ju: Bass – 2018
The band has been around for 10 years.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations as a band?
Despised Icon, Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, Breakdown of Sanity, Whitechapel.
Who did you listen to growing up? Did any of these artists influence your sound as a band?
We all listened to different kinds of music. From nu metal to industrial metal, through metalcore, deathcore and hardcore and our music is really born from a mix of all these genres.
In 2022, you released your album “Collide and Collapse”. What do you think of the album? What is your favourite song from it and why?
We think this album deserves more recognition as it is really different from actual music. A lot of work has been done in order to provide something different to our listeners.
We all have different favourite songs but I think we all enjoy ‘Boomer’.
Is there anywhere you want to perform one day? Maybe a certain country or festival?
Of course it would be awesome to do huge festivals. But the place doesn’t really matter. The only thing that matters is the people.
What is your favourite song to perform live and why?
I think it is ‘Boomer’. We have a good synergy around that song.
Reflecting on the past, what is your favourite memory as a band?
EVERY MOMENT.
How has 2024 been for the band? Are there any achievements you have been proud of?
We have been smooth in 2024 as we were preparing our next album.
Looking at 2025, do you have any plans for next year?
New album, new tour, new shows, new people!
What is your favourite part of being a band? What makes it all worth it for you?
This is where we belong I think. Probably one of the only places where we are surrounded by people just like us.
If someone had just discovered you and had no idea what to expect, what would you tell them? What song would you recommend?
I would say ‘Decline’ or ‘Deadwalker’.
What piece of advice would you give to newer aspiring musicians/bands?
TOUR… get out and tour while you are young!
If you could collaborate or perform with any band, who would you choose and why?
Parkway Drive… these guys look like they enjoy each of their shows and that drives us.
What would you say to anyone who has yet to see you perform? What should they expect?
Each show we are doing pillow fights!! So get ready for a royal rumble!
Thanks for your time! To wrap this up, do you have anything you’d like to say to your fans and anyone that has supported you over the years?
The best is yet to come! Thank you.
